What Drives Conformal Coating Machine Price

Conformal coating machine prices depend on axes, valves and accuracy class. This guide explains each cost factor so you can send board details for an exact quotation.

The factors that move the price

Board size sets the motion platform. Valve count and type set the process: one spray valve coats, a needle valve handles edges and keep-out borders, and multi-valve setups do both in one pass. Accuracy class sets the motion hardware: coating patterns with fine keep-out margins need the tighter class. A curing section, if your coating needs one, is a further line item, as is conveyor integration with the boards' line standard.

Why quotes need your board details

Two buyers coating 'PCBs' can need machines a class apart: a large board with wide margins is simple work; a dense board with connectors to keep out is not. Send board dimensions, a photo of the coating area and your boards-per-hour target, and the quotation will price the machine you actually need.

The cost of not coating selectively

When comparing quotes, price the alternative honestly: manual masking labour per board, masking defects and rework, and the field-failure cost of a missed area. A selective machine that looks expensive against a basic spray setup often wins on those three lines within the first production year.

Worked example: two boards, two machines

Consider a lighting driver board, 200 mm long, coated over most of its surface with wide margins around two connectors. A single spray valve on a mid-accuracy platform coats it all day; the quote is mostly platform and valve. Now consider a dense control board of the same size with a dozen keep-out components and margins of a millimetre or two. The same nominal job — 'coat a 200 mm board' — now needs the tighter accuracy class, a needle valve for borders and more programming time. The two quotations differ by a wide margin, and both are correct.

This is why responsible suppliers refuse to quote coating machines from a one-line description, and why the fastest route to a real price is a board photo with the coating areas marked.

Buyer questions

How do I get a configuration for my parts?

Send part drawings, coating type and output target through the inquiry page; the reply will confirm the configuration and quotation.

Not sure which configuration fits?

Send your part drawings, part size and output target. We will confirm the machine or line configuration and reply with a quotation.
